Magome Post Town is 600m long and is located along the stiff climb of Nakasendo (average 10% assent).  It is a live town with people living there and most of the houses have tourist business like Japanese style inns, restaurants, food take-out shops, or souvenir shops.
Between Magome and Tsumago, there is a pass called “Magome Toge”.  Most people travel this distance of 8km by their own car, but still walking along the ancient trail is common for tourist especially from overseas.  This route is listed as TOP25 in the famous travel guide, “Lonely Planet”.
Cycle along the two post towns is a nice experience.  Instead of going into the trail, you have a panorama view.
Magome Post Town locates at the end of “Nobi Plain Land” or the beginning of “Kiso Mountains”, and around Magome, there are so many interesting / beautiful places.

Tono-cycling, as the local-based guided cycling team, will introduce the “best rural” in the area.  Our basic course for Magome starts from JR Nakatsugawa Station, but the suitable arrangement for you is our pleasure.
